Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American singer and actress whose dramatic variety earned her acclaim in a variety of styles from period dramas to thriller and action adventure. Johansson grew up in New York City as the daughter an architect and an executive from a production firm. Her twin brother Hunter and she were her youngest siblings. As a young girl of just 7 an old, the actress started auditioning for television commercials. She became interested in acting quickly and she enrolled immediately to the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. In her early years, Johansson appeared in Sophistry together with Ethan Hawke and made her film debut in Rob Reiner's North at the time of 1994. Johansson was later seen in Just Cause (1995) but her first breakthrough came with Manny & Lo (1996) a coming-of-age film about siblings who are orphaned and run away. The Horse Whisperer (2000), in which she played an teen with a defect due to an accident garnered the film critical acclaim. After that, in Ghost World 2001 (as the young, sarcastic teenager Rebecca), Johansson gained the attention of a whole new generation. Smith found her first role as an actor when she was age six with the help of her parents. She starred in a TV commercial for Dannon yogurt. As many new actresses, she chose to develop her skills in theater. She was involved in various productions in the USA in the midst of making her stage debut.
